Sham call centre targeting foreigners busted, 14 held

GURGAON: A team of the cybercrime unit busted a fake call centre on Wednesday night and arrested 14 accused for allegedly duping foreign nationals under the pretext of offering technical support.
Police said the accused were running a fake international call centre at Universal Trade Tower in Sector 49.
Police received a tip-off regarding the centre and conducted a raid on Wednesday night. They arrested Aditya, who allegedly ran the centre, along with 13 others, including three women. This is the third such call centre that has been busted, within a week, which was using the same modus operandi.
The accused were targeting foreign nationals, mainly from the United States and would execute their scam by sending their targets fake messages offering technical support to fix bugs in their devices, police said. T
