MUMBAI: Three elder sisters of Saraswati Vaidya, who was allegedly murdered by her live-in-partner Manoj Sane in Mumbai's Mira road flat, reached Naya Nagar police station on Friday to record their statements.
The sisters told the police that Vaidya and Sane had married in a temple.
Sane (56) who worked in a ration shop in Borivali lived with Vaidya (34) in a rented apartment in Geeta Akashdeep building in Mira Road.

The rent agreement was made by Sane and there was no mention of Vaidya in it.
Residents of the building assumed them to be husband-wife. On Wednesday foul smell caught the residents' attention and they informed the police.
The flat was broken open to find multiple body parts in the kitchen and a bedroom. Sane, who had returned from outside, tried to flee but was arrested.
Sane told cops that Vaidya was an orphan. She lived in an orphanage in Ahmednagar till she turned 18. It is not known if her sisters stayed with her in the same orphanage.

The sisters who reside in Mumbai were in touch with Vaidya. The sisters identified the photograph of Vaidya and Sane and told cops the two had married in a temple and the siblings knew about it.
DCP Jayant Bajbale said the sisters’ DNA would be matched with the body parts to identify Vaidya. The body parts have been sent to J J hospital for examination. Sane had pressure cooked and roasted most of the body parts.
