Couple tie hands, commit suicide

AHMEDABAD: Adalaj police registered a case on Thursday after they recovered the bodies of a couple who had tied their hands together and jumped into the Narmada canal near Adalaj.
The girl was a minor and a complaint of kidnapping had been registered at Sector 21 police station on Wednesday.
Adalaj police officials said they found the bodies floating in the canal with their hands tied together with a dupatta. The man was later identified as Vishal Bhatti, 18.
Police said no suicide note was recovered. Investigators said the bodies were then sent for postmortems. The couple may have jumped into the canal on Wednesday. Investigators said Sector 21 police had registered a case of kidnapping against Bhatti after the two had gone missing.
Police said the two were in love and lived in the same neighbourhood of Sector 24 in Gandhinagar. Police said it seems that the families were against their relationship as the girl was a minor and Bhatti had just turned 18 years old.
