RAJKOT: Devbhumi Dwarka police seized illegally mined 69 metric tonnes of bauxite loaded in three trucks in a raid conducted jointly with the mines and minerals department team.
The trucks were seized at Virpurlus village of Kalyanpur taluka and four people were booked under IPC sections relating to criminal conspiracy, cheating, and others.
Those booked were Bharat Gonjiya, Bhavesh Kambariya, Jaga Kambariya, Ramnik Thanki, and others. The total seizure is worth Rs 10 lakh, police said.
In the complaint, royalty inspector Ankur Badarka stated that the accused were illegally mining high-quality bauxite from the village and using the royalty of lease of Thanki to show it as legal mining.
According to sources, the place where Thanki had got the lease had inferior quality minerals, so he and others started mining at a different place.
