If you use Uber or Lyft around Cincinnati, be sure to double-check your pick-up and drop-off locations.

The City of Cincinnati has announced four new nighttime rideshare zones in Over-the-Rhine for passenger drop-off and pick-up. The new zones are on Liberty Street in front of the James Brown mural, 13th Street by Longfellow, Sycamore Street in front of Ziegler Park and Central Parkway near the Salvation Army at Clay Street.

The zones for services such as Uber and Lyft will be effective Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. The zones are labeled on-site with green and blue signs.

According to the Cincinnati Department of Transportation and Engineering, the new zones aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety during busy summer nights. The restriction will be enforced by geofencing technology within the rideshare apps.

Main Street cannot be used as a drop-off or pick-up area while the zones are in effect, per a press release. Passengers can still call for an Uber or Lyft on Main Street but must walk to a nearby pick-up zone to wait for their ride.

Curbside pick-up and drop-off are still available in Over-the-Rhine outside the specified timeframe.
