DC showcauses MGMMCH super over lapses in mgmt
Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Vijaya Jadhav showcaused superintendent of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH) Dr Ravindra Kumar on Wednesday.
The showcause was slapped based on the findings of the seven-member oversight committee, which discovered over a dozen lapses in the regulation of the day-to-day work at the hospital.
Dr Kumar has been asked to submit a reply in 24 hours. The oversight panel, comprising seven officials and 28 subordinates, was constituted by the DC on May 30, to look into the functioning of the MGMMCH.
The panel has found that out of the 20 sanctioned post of dressers, not a single dresser is currently on duty in the hospital. It also found that the blood bank has insufficient stock.
Around 40 defective split air-conditioners are lying defunct since past several months and camera of the CT scan and X-Ray machine is also not working.
The panel, in their multiple rounds of inspection between May 30 and June 6, found that makeshift beds are placed in the corridor to accommodate patients during rush in the indoor ward but the corridor lack fans, causing problem to the patients in summer.
The panel has also found that bio waste at the hospital is not disposed off on Sundays and contractual staffs are not regular on duty.
Based on the findings, the DC concluded that the hospital’s incumbent management is not prioritising the improvement of the overall functioning of the hospital nor the supervision of the hospital management is satisfactory.
The DC noted that the laxity and shortcomings at the hospital shows dereliction of duty on part of the superintendent.
