PATNA: Patna University (PU) will publish the first merit list of candidates selected for admission to the undergraduate courses in arts, science and commerce streams in the session 2023-24 on Thursday. The counselling-cum-admission of students will be held between June 9 and 13.
PU students' welfare dean Anil Kumar said that the last date for online submission of applications for admission to the newly-introduced four-year degree courses as well as three-year undergraduate vocational (self-financing) courses ended on June 5. More than 10,000 applications were received for admission against altogether 4200 seats in different honours courses both under regular conventional courses and vocational courses in different constituent colleges of PU.
He pointed out that the screening of applications has almost been completed and the course-wise merit list is being finalized. The merit list will be displayed on the PU website (www.pup.ac.in) on Thursday. As the university did not conduct the entrance test for admission this year, the merit list is being prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying (plus two) examination conducted by the BSEB, CBSE or ICSE.
Selected candidates will be asked to make online payment of the counselling-cum-admission fee and collect the payment receipt. Then they will be directed to go to the allotted college along with the allotment letter (to be downloaded from the website), payment slip, and all the required documents and certificates for admission. If they fail to report at the allotted centre at the given date and time, they will forfeit their claim for admission and the seat will be allotted to the candidate next in merit, said Kumar.
The total number of sanctioned seats in undergraduate courses against which students would be admitted are Patna College (930), Patna Science College (750), B N College (1130), Magadh Mahila College (1156), and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya (525).
The three-year degree vocational courses running in different colleges of PU, to which the selected candidates would be admitted, are Functional English (Patna College and B N College), BCA (B N College, Patna Science College, Magadh Mahila College and Directorate of Distance Education), BBA (Patna College, B N College, Magadh Mahila College), Biotechnology (Patna Science College and B N College), Mass Communications (Patna College), Environmental Science (Patna Science College) and Social Work (Magadh Mahila College).
