Police arrest seven drug peddlers in Punjab's Khanna
LUDHIANA: Khanna police has arrested seven drug peddlers after it recovered 626 grams of heroin and 2 kilograms opium in three cases.
Addressing media persons at Khanna on Thursday, SSP Khanna, Amneet Kondal said that a police team led by DSP Payal Harsimrat Singh arrested Jagbir Singh Jagga of village Umarwal Billa in Jalandhar and Jaswinder Singh Jassa of Sidhwan Bet in Ludhiana who were traveling in Fortuner car on National Highway at Doraha and recovered 600 grams of heroin from them. She added that Rs.40,000 drug money was also recovered from them.
SSP said that it was a chance recovery as the police had set up a check post for suspicious vehicles and persons and arrested the accused persons from there.
Cops said that the accused were allegedly "bringing" the consignment from Ludhiana area and were to supply the same in various areas. They added that Jagbir Singh has a case under the Mining Act registered against him on December 28, 2015 at Sidhwan Bet police station and there are two cases of kidnapping registered against him in Mehtpur police station.
Cops further said that a case was registered against Jagbir's accomplice Jaswinder Singh Jassa on 6 September 2022 under the Mining Act at Sidhwan Bet police station whereas drug smuggling case is also registered against him in Nakodar police station.
Police officials said that acting on a tip off, police arrested four accused Satnam Singh Bauhda, Lovepreet Singh Lovely, Charanpreet Singh Cheena and Satwinder Singh Satta, all of Rampur village from a black colored Cruise car after 26 grams heroin was recovered from them. They added that Satnam Singh Bauhra has three cases against him including a drug peddling, attempt to murder and a hurt case.
Cops said that the accused Satnam Singh had bought the car from Delhi with drug money about two days ago. They added that police had got many complaints from the villagers about the accused Satnam allegedly destroying the lives of youths in the area by selling them drugs.
Police officials said that in the third case, police party had set up a check post in Payal area, when during checking it arrested Ram Balak of Ghudani Kalan, originally from East Champaran District of Bihar after 2 kilograms opium was recovered from him. They added that it is being suspected that the accused had come to deliver the consignment and someone else is behind him whose identity is being ascertained.
