Jayalalithaa's soul will rest in peace if cadres unite: O Panneerselvam

THANJAVUR: Expelled AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran shared the stage yet again, at the marriage function of the son of estranged AIADMK leader and Orathanadu MLA, R Vaithilingam in Thanjavur on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, OPS called for unity to make AIADMK a powerful party, saying Jayalalithaa's soul would rest in peace only if the cadres remained united. For his part, Dhinakaran resolved to teach the 'betrayers' a lesson as well as defeat arch-rival DMK. "It is a natural union (with OPS). We will teach betrayers a lesson and dethrone DMK to bring back Amma's rule in the state," he added.
"Today's function is the genesis of change. The participation of TTV sir in the function gives us immense pleasure," said OPS. He said people wanted the party to be united and bring "the rule of J Jayalalithaa" back in the state. Panneerselvam said when cadres are united no one can play any game with the AIADMK in the political arena, not only within Tamil Nadu but across India. He advised cadres to 'make it conducive for the AIADMK' to go it alone in the 234 assembly constituencies in the state and win.
In his speech, Dhinakaran said he broke away from the AIADMK and launched AMMK because of the 'selfishness of some people, their dominant attitude and greed'. "We were forced to form the AMMK with a heavy heart six years ago to take the goals of Amma to the cadres. I am happy to see the functionaries and cadres of AIADMK and AMMK together. The loyalists of Amma are divided because of the selfishness of somebody," he said.
