Prayagraj: A 12-year-old boy from Lucknow learnt swimming in 12 days and crossed Yamuna river in just 10 minutes here on Wednesday.
Hasan Abbas Raza, who came to her mother’s parental house at Kareli in Prayagraj for summer holidays, started learning swimming on May 26.
A student of class 8 and resident of Kashmiri Muhana road, Hasan under the guidance of his trainers, started swimming from Meerapur Sindu Sagar ghat (Kakraha ghat) at 6.25am and crossed the river (another side of river bank) Vidhyapeeth Maheva ghat at 6:35 am.
Master trainer Tribhuwan Nishad told TOI: “Hasan is a talented boy and he learnt swimming skills in just 12 days.”
Hasan’s father Mojiz Raza and mother Hina Rizvi are proud for their son’s achievement.
Hina said: “The boy was not only determined to learn swimming but also crossing the river Yamuna in stipulated time. On Wednesday, it was unbelievable moment for the entire family when Hasan crossed the Yamuna in just 10 minutes.”
On Thursday, a seven-year-old boy Rudra Kapoor will attempt to cross the river through breaststroke swimming.
