Miscreants make away with BJP leader’s car

Mysuru: Miscreants struck at former minister and BJP politician M Shivanna’s house and made away with a SUV that was parked outside his residence in upscale Vijay Nagar III Stage early Wednesday morning.
It was a 2019 model SUV. “I hardly used it as I was using the government vehicle,” said Shivanna, adding that he had kept the key of the SUV inside the house. “The thief entered the house from behind and took the key first. Later, he drove away the SUV. His associate is also seen in the CCTV footage,” explained Shivanna.
According to Shivanna, earlier he was keeping the SUV inside the compound, but as rats used to damage the SUV, he started parking it outside. They have not stolen anything else from the house, he said.
This is the second such incident in the locality in the last two weeks. About 15 days ago, thieves had stolen a SUV near my house. I fear an organised gang is behind this act, he alleged. “I have been staying in this area for the last 2 decades. But this kind of incident had never happened earlier. I have written to senior police officials seeking more patrolling in the area,” he said.
City police commissioner Ramesh Banoth, and senior police officials visited the spot. Police have launched an investigation. According to Shivanna, the incident happened when his family members were asleep on the first floor. “We all were sleep in different rooms on the first floor,” he added.
