Stolen vehicle hits Peoria police squad car while fleeing from authorities
A stolen vehicle backed into a police car while fleeing from law enforcement early Wednesday morning in Peoria, according to police.
Around 2:51 a.m. Wednesday morning, police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on the 4700 block of Knoxville Avenue. The reported stolen vehicle was being followed by another stolen vehicle, police said.

When officers tried to stop one of the vehicles at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Lake Avenue, the driver backed the vehicle into a squad car and fled the scene. No officers were injured.
The police car suffered minor damage but was still drivable, Police spokesperson Semone Roth said.
Police soon found one of the stolen vehicles abandoned on the 1000 block of West Main Street. The other vehicle was found by authorities near Sterling and Heading Avenue.
The incident remains under investigation.
