As Pune continues to smoulder, a mist fountain installed through a corporate social responsibility initiative of a construction firm at the RTO junction is providing much-needed, although brief, relief to people who wait at the traffic signal.
“The PMC, with financial help from Kumar Builders, has installed a mist fountain at the RTO junction as a part of an initiative to check air pollution on city roads,” said a Pune Municipal Corporation official.
People who reached the spot on Wednesday afternoon were pleasantly surprised to get the unexpected misty, chilly relief. “This is a great idea!” said Ashwin Shinde, a student who came riding a motorcycle. “Whoever installed this is surely getting a lot of blessings.”
Pune continues to experience high temperatures as the arrival of the monsoon has been delayed due to Cyclone Biparjoy. As per reports, the cyclone is moving at 5 kmph and will intensify gradually in the next 24 hours. The city is likely to receive light showers on Friday.
