Minor among 3 held for sandalwood theft at Poona club

Pune city police arrested one person and apprehended two minors in connection with the robbery of sandalwood tree logs from the premises of the Poona Club near Council Hall, within a few hours after the incident was reported on Wednesday.

An FIR was registered in connection with the incident at the Bundgarden police station. According to the FIR, five persons threatened the complainant with a hack saw and then they chopped four sandalwood trees worth Rs 80,000 and fled from the spot in their car, in the early hours of Wednesday.

After receiving information, a team from Bundgarden police station rushed to the spot for investigation. An FIR was lodged against the five persons under sections 395 and 427 of the IPC . Acting on a tip-off to policeman Sai Rokde of the Lonikand police station, a team led by assistant police inspector Ravindra Godse intercepted a car on suspicion on the Pune – Ahmednagar road on Wednesday.

Police nabbed three persons and recovered the stolen sandalwood from their possession.  They were handed over to the Bundgarden police station for further investigation. “The three include two minors. They belong to Shrirampur in Ahmednagar district. Search is on for the other two accomplices,” said Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawade of the Bundgarden police station, who is investigating the case.
