HYDERABAD: Three months after PG medical student Dharavath Preethi, 26, ended her life owing to alleged harassment by her senior, Warangal police on Wednesday filed a 970-page chargesheet.
Preethi's senior Mohammed Saif, 27, at Kakatiya Medical College was charged under various sections of IPC, Prohibition of Ragging Act, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for allegedly subjecting her to ragging and abetting her suicide.
Evidence

"We have recorded the statements of students and the teaching staff. There is a clear evidence of harassment by Saif," Warangal ACP Bonala Kishan told TOI.
Preethi, who attempted suicide by injecting herself with fentanyl drug on February 22, died on February 26 in NIMS in Hyderabad where she was under treatment.
After filing the voluminous chargesheet before a local court, police issued an official statement saying how Saif used to harass Preethi.
"While Preethi was undergoing training at KMC, second year medical student Saif subjected her to ragging and also harassed her by referring to her community. Unable to put up with the harassment, Preethi took her own life," police said.
As part of the investigation, police recorded the statements of 70 witnesses.
Police teams also gathered evidence with the assistance of scientific, technical, medical and forensic experts.
"Data from the cellphones of Preethi, Saif and their friends was extracted by forensic experts and analysed. Reports of forensic and medical experts were also examined. It was found that Saif harassed Preethi in the name of ragging and forced her to die by suicide," cops said.
Saif even posted humiliating messages against Preethi in the students WhatsApp group, police charged.
She told her friends about the harassment from Saif and the issue was brought to the notice of the faculty, cops said.
Preeethi was found in an unconscious condition by her classmates in KMC and after an initial treatment in Warangal, she was shifted to NIMS.
Police registered a case against Saif based on a complaint lodged by Preethi's father D Narender, an assistant sub-inspector of Railway Protection Force of South Central Railway. Saif , a resident of Bapuji Nagar in Hanumakonda, was doing his second year MD (anesthesia) course. Preethi was in her first year MD (anesthesia) course. Protests erupted in Warangal, demanding arrest of those responsible for her death. Police arrested Saif on February 24. He got bail in April.
