Gurgaon:
MCG will carry out recarpeting of roads in Sushant Lok 2 and 3 in 10 days. Residents of the two colonies, which were taken over by the corporation along with five other colonies on June 15 last year, met MCG commissioner PC Meena on Tuesday.
The estimated cost of recarpeting the roads in Sushant Lok 2 and 3 is around Rs 11 crore. “We have received directions from the commissioner to start work within 10 days. The tender process is complete and rates are now being finalised. We will start the work as per the commissioner’s directions. The project will be completed in two months,” said a senior MCG official
Residents said they have been raising the issue of poor roads with the civic body since the takeover. “We met the MCG commissioner on Tuesday and highlighted several civic issues we are facing, especially poor roads and sewer lines in A and D blocks of Sushant Lok 2. The commissioner assured us road recarpeting work will begin by next week,” said Pawan Yadav, president of Sushant Lok Extension RWA.
“The roads in Sushant Lok 2 are in a pathetic condition with huge craters that lead to our vehicles’ tyres being punctured every two to three days. School buses and other heavy vehicles ply on the roads since there are commercial establishments in the area, but the internal roads have not been repaired for over two decades now. Patchwork was done in Sushant Lok 3, so the roads there are better than Sushant Lok 2,” said Sudakshina Laha, general secretary of Sushant Lok-2 and 3 RWA.
Residents told Meena that work of connecting the sewer line of A and D blocks of Sushant Lok 3 has been delayed for three months now, to which the commissioner replied it would be completed soon.
“Work on the sewer line of D block is nearly completed, but it is yet to be linked with the main line. Moreover, the pipeline of A block is also yet to be completed. We raised the issue with the MCG commissioner and he assured us that the problem would soon be resolved,” added Laha.
