West Bengal makes registration on Skill Development Portal ‘Utkarsh Bangla’ mandatory for all Industries

Kolkata, June 8 (KNN) The West Bengal government is accelerating the registration process on its Utkarsh Bangla portal, a flagship scheme for Short Term Skill Development in the state.
The objective is to skill individuals and empower them to engage in wage employment or self-employment leading to improved livelihood through increased earnings, improved working conditions, and opportunities to move from informal to formal work sectors.
In May 2023 a meeting was convened by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to inform Industry Associations that all Industry Associations and industries within the State of West Bengal have to compulsorily register with the Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD) under Utkarsha Bangal portal.
The meeting was followed by a high level committee which has been asked to give an effect to this scheme for proper implementation urgently in a prudent manner.
