Gurgaon: Three armed men who booked a cab to Manesar on Monday morning allegedly fled with the sedan after holding him hostage at gunpoint, police said on Wednesday.
"Around 4am, I was waiting for a booking near Iffco Chowk when I received one till Manesar. I reached the location, and three men got inside the cab. As we reached a deserted stretch in Manesar, they took out their guns and threatened to kill me. They snatched my car key and forced me to sit in the back seat. They also snatched my mobile phone, took out the sim card, and threw it away. From there, they drove all the way to Rewari, where they dumped me and fled away with my car," the cab driver, Deepak Kumar, told police.
Kumar told police that a few passersby rescued him and informed the police. He was later brought to the Sector 29 police station, where he filed a complaint. Based on the complaint, the accused have been booked under IPC Section 392 (robbery) and Section 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
"We are checking CCTV footage from cameras installed on different routes leading to Manesar and Rewari to track the accused," said sub-inspector Prahlad Kumar.
