GM slates $500M in investments for Texas manufacturing facility

General Motors (NYSE:GM) announced plans to invest in $500M in an Arlington, Texas plant which will be focused on internal combustion engine full-size SUVs.
The automaker said that the investment remains subject to “successful discussions with local government officials.” Specific models for production at the plant are to be disclosed at a later date. The facility currently produces Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and Escalade-V models.
"Today we are announcing plans for a significant investment in Arlington to strengthen our industry-leading full-size SUV business,” Gerald Johnson, executive vice president for Global Manufacturing and Sustainability, said. “Preparing the plant to produce future ICE full-size SUVs reflects our commitment to our valued customers and the efforts of the dedicated Arlington Assembly employees, who have been breaking production records this year.”
The latest investment brings the grand total spent on upgrades at the facility in the past decade to $2B, according to GM. Earlier in the week, the company announced plans to invest over $1B in a Flint, Michigan plant.
