Goa: Undertrial booked for bid to escape from Colvale jail

PANAJI: Police on Thursday booked an undertrial for trying to escape from the Colvale central jail.
Deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Jivba Dalvi said that jailor Mukund Gawas lodged a complaint that at about 1pm on Wednesday, when prisoners were moved for fresh air and free movement into the new admission block undertrial Pradeep Khalko attempted to escape from the jail by climbing the inner compound wall by taking support of the ground floor roof and the gate.
Recently IG (prison) Omvir Singh conducted a surprise visit and seized mobiles from inmates.
Colvale central jail is the only functioning prison in the state and all convicts and undertrials have been kept in the same jail.
