Bindu: Pvt colleges should show more responsibility

Higher education minister R Bindu on Tuesday said self-financing college managements should show more responsibility.
She was responding to students' protest at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering near Kanjirappally, Kottayam, over the alleged suicide of a second-year food technology student. Students were put under severe stress in the name of discipline and morality in these institutions, she said.
Meanwhile, the protest by students, demanding action against those responsible for the suicide, continued on Tuesday. College authorities closed the college and asked students to vacate the hostel but they didn't oblige. Talks held between college authorities and students failed to pacify the situation. Sradha (20) of Thiruvankulam, Tripunithura allegedly ended her life in her hostel on Friday.
