2 horticulture officers in ACB net for taking bribe
Jaipur: A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a deputy director, horticulture and an agriculture officer from Udaipur for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000. The bribe was demanded in lieu of releasing government subsidy for the sprinklers for gardening and Rs 2,000 as bribe were fixed per file by the officers.
Hemant Priyadarshi, officiating DG, ACB stated that a complainant approached the Chittorgarh unit of ACB and complained that the accused woman identified as Laxmi Kanwar Rathore the deputy director, horticulture in Udaipur and Parvatdan Charan the agriculture officer both posted at deputy director office in Udaipur were asking for Rs 2,000 per file as bribe.
“They had asked the complainant to pay Rs 2,000 per file. The files were pending for the release of government subsidy for sprinklers in gardens. Initially, they asked Rs 60,000 from the complainant,” Priyadarshi added.
Finally, when the complaint believed that he is unable to pay that much bribe he narrated his plight before the officers of the Chittorgarh unit of ACB.
Based on his complaint a trap was laid and both the officers were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000. Following the arrests, the authorities swung into action for the searches at the office and residential premises of the two accused. “Both the accused are under interrogation, and we will get deeper into this corruption racket at the horticulture department at Udaipur,” said Sawai Singh Godara, IG, ACB.
