DGP opens all-woman police stations at Sulur and Kottur
Coimbatore: Director general of police C Sylendra Babu inaugurated two all-woman police stations in Karumathampatti and Valparai sub-divisions in the district through video conferencing from Chennai on Tuesday morning.
The new stations are set up at Sulur in the Karumathampatti sub-division and at Kottur near Anaimalai in the Valparai sub-division.
R Sudhakar, inspector general of police (west zone), Coimbatore, C Vijaya Kumar, deputy inspector of general, Coimbatore range, V Badrinarayanan, district superintendent of police, and other officials were present at Sulur during the inauguration
Addressing reporters, superintendent of police Badrinarayanan said the Perur all-woman police station was handling woman harassment and Pocso cases reported from the Karumathampatti sub-division. “Hereafter, people from Karumathampatti, Sulur and Chettipalayam can go to the Karumathampatti all-woman station located on the Sulur police station premises and state their problem.”
The new stations will each have nine police personnel, including an inspector.
