Will Romelu Lukaku be playing for Chelsea next season? Belgian set for Stamford Bridge return after Champions League final

Romelu Lukaku will be featuring for Inter Milan against Manchester City in the Champions League final this weekend but will soon be returning to London.

Lukaku has spent this season on loan from Chelsea at Inter, helping them achieve a third-place finish in Serie A and reach their first European final since 2010.

However, his loan will come to an end this summer and the Belgian is set to make a return to Premier League football next season. 

Will Lukaku be playing for Chelsea next season?

Lukaku will return to Chelsea this summer after his loan spell at Inter Milan ends. 

Following his £97.5million transfer to Stamford Bridge in 2021, the striker struggled on his return to the Blues.

And this led to a loan move back to the Inter last summer as he looked to regain some confidence and form. 

Lukaku has since scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 35 games this season as his side finished third in the Serie A table. 

According to Inter’s CEO Beppe Marotta, the striker has enjoyed his time back at the club but his future lies in the hands of Chelsea.

Marotta told Radio Rai: "Romelu loves the shirt he wears, he is very comfortable at Inter.

"These are fundamental aspects, this desire of his to be with us. But he is on loan until June 30.

"He will return to Chelsea, and we don’t know what will happen on a technical level at that club.

"At the moment we are at the window.”

So as it stands, Lukaku is set to return to Chelsea after the Champions League final and new manager Mauricio Pochettino will assess whether he will play a part in his side. 

One of Pochettino’s biggest strengths as a coach is his man management, and there is every chance the Argentine coach could be the man to get Lukaku back to his best.
