Telangana's health minister T. Harish Rao on Monday announced paid maternity leaves for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) employees in recognition of their role in providing top-notch healthcare services to the population in the state.
Rao has asked senior health officials to conduct a study on the implementation of maternity leave with pay for ASHAs and ANMs, following which a detailed report will be submitted so that the benefit can be passed on to these front-line workers.
