Guv visits Lohardaga to take stock of welfare schemes
Ranchi: Governor C P Radhakrishnan on Tuesday visited Lohardaga to take stock of development work there, mainly in the remote areas. Talking to villagers at different places, he asked them to be aware about various government schemes to be able to press for them. He said, “When the village develops, people will develop. With this purpose, I have come to make you aware about the various welfare schemes of the government and to know about your problems.”
The governor stressed that women can improve their family's economic conditions by joining Sakhi Mandals (self-help groups). Stressing the significance of education as means for empowerment, he said, “It should be the priority for all of us to provide good education to our children.” He assured people to talk to district authorities in Lohardaga to discuss ways to increase income of women.
While interacting with people at a programme, Radhakrishnan inquired women about the status of Ujjwala Yojana? Taking cognizance of a woman informing about her problems, he said, “Soon the block development officer will be asked to provide a gas connection to her under the Ujjwala Yojana.” He also assured locals for arrangement of water towers and streamlining electricity problems among others by engaging with the state government and local authorities.
At Rampur, he inspected the stalls set up by various departments. On land-related problems faced by Tana Bhagats, he said the issue will be taken into cognizance and talk to the government.
