AURANGABAD: Three unidentified criminals looted jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash at gunpoint from a jewellery shop at Satyendra Nagar under Aurangabad town police station area on Tuesday. The criminals also thrashed the shopkeeper, Vikas Soni, for resisting the loot bid.
Vikas said he was waiting for customers at his Durga Jewellers around 2pm when three criminals on a motorcycle reached there. "They had covered their faces with clothes. As soon as they entered the shop, the criminals took out the pistol and looted all the gold and silver ornaments along with the cash kept in the counter," he said.
When the shopkeeper tried to protest, one of the criminals hit him with the pistol butt and injured. After carrying out the robbery for about half an hour, the criminals left the place on their bike while firing in the air. SDPO Sweety Sehrawat said the statement of the injured jeweller has been recorded and raids were on to nab the criminals.
