Complete pre-monsoon works: Shetye

Bicholim: Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye on Wednesday reprimanded officials of various departments for failing to complete pre-monsoon works in time.
At a special meeting of the disaster management cell, Shetye directed officials to ensure pending works are completed without delays and people are not inconvenienced when the monsoon begins.
It was pointed out that laying of the underground power line was still under way in Bicholim town. With roads dug up, this may cause accidents during the monsoon if work not completed in time. Directing the officials to complete the ongoing works expeditiously, Shetye said a review will he held next week.
Officials have been specifically directed to make arrangement to maintain vigil over mining pits, and ensure flood control measures are in place at the Tillari dam area.
