2 unidentified bodies recovered from Ganga
Prayagraj: Police on Tuesday claimed to have fished out bodies of four out of five students from river Ganga till Monday night. These students had drowned in the river at Sangam in Daraganj area on Sunday. The bodies have been identified as those of Sumit Vishwakarma of Satna, Vishal Verma of Munger (Bihar), Maheshwar Verma of Mau and Abhishek Agrahari of Sulantpur.
ACP ( Jhunsi) Chirag Jain told TOI that joint teams of Jal police, PAC (flood control) and SDRF are making sincere efforts to fish out the body of the fifth student named Utkarsh Kumar, a resident of Sultanpur.
He added, “During the operation, joint teams have fished out two more bodies from the river. Efforts are underway to identify the persons. Efforts are being made to trace the body of Utkarsh Kumar. After recovering the bodies of two unknown persons, we have approached local police stations to ensure that their identities are established.” On Tuesday, cops maintained a strict vigil on Ganga ghats and advised people to follow guidelines while taking bath or swimming. Personnel of Jal police, SDRF and PAC (flood battalion) cautioned people who arrived at Sangam to take holy dip or for swimming. tnn
