Deceased man’s donated organs give trio new life

Nagpur: After a 38-year-old man, father of a 5-year-old kid died in an accident, his wife and family members decided to donate his organs, reports Chaitanya Deshpande.
The selfless act of the Khekde family from Tiosa in Amravati district has provided a second chance at life to three needy patients.
Nitesh Mohan Khekde’s car was parked by the roadside on May 21 when a recklessly driven truck hit with his vehicle from the rear. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later transferred to GMCH Nagpur.
On June 1, he was shifted to New Era Hospital. Despite five days of intensive treatment, his condition deteriorated, and a team of doctors declared him brain dead.
A 51-year-old female at Wockhardt Hospital in Nagpur received the liver, while a 47-year-old male at New Era Hospital and a 38-year-old male at Care Hospital, both in Nagpur, received one kidney each.
