Samsung’s software update teams are running at full steam and are bringing the June 2023 security update to more and more devices since the month started. Following the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the Galaxy S20 series is also receiving an update that bundles all the fixes from the latest security patch.

The new update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra is rolling out in nearly a dozen European markets, though the initial release seems to be for carrier-specific variants of the device in most of those markets. It sports firmware version G98xxXXUHHWED and, interestingly enough, it seems to have more than just the latest security fixes.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the changelog for this update yet so we can’t say what changes, improvements, or new features it brings to Samsung’s 2020 flagships. But we will update this post once we do get access to the changelog so be sure to check back later. As for the June 2023 security patch, it brings fixes for three critical security flaws in the Android OS and 11 fixes for flaws discovered on Samsung devices, with more details available here for those interested.

Your S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra will automatically notify you about the update once it goes live in your market, but you can also check if it’s available right now by opening the phone’s Settings app, tapping Software update, then hitting the Download and install option. If you are comfortable manually flashing firmware on your phone using a Windows PC, you can download the latest firmware from our archive to do so.

If you own a Galaxy S20 FE, you will have to wait for the June update as the Fan Edition models aren’t updated at the same time as the standard, Plus, and Ultra models. And for those wondering, the Galaxy S20 series is not eligible for Android 14 and One UI 6.0. That applies to all Galaxy S20 models, including the S20 FE.
