Inadequate seating for lawyers: HCBA writes to Fadnavis
Nagpur: The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has written a letter to deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis complaining about inadequate seating space for lawyers at Nagpur bench of Bombay high court.
The letter by president Atul Pande and secretary Amol Jaltare says HCBA has over 3,000 registered lawyers, but only 750 can be accommodated in the existing premises.
Emphasizing that HCBA, one of the oldest bar associations in India, would be celebrating its centenary year soon, they pointed out acute shortage of seating space, toilets and parking.
The HCBA had communicated with the PWD executive engineer last year about a centrally sponsored scheme for construction of a lawyer’s hall in the HC campus.
Demand for tribunal benches in city
HCBA team has requested the central and state government to set up benches of important tribunals in the city. The demand includes benches of Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT), National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and permanent bench of National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC).
