AHMEDABAD: Panic gripped two societies in Paldi as a group of simians wreaked havoc, biting, slapping, and injuring three people on Tuesday.
Witnesses said a troop of monkeys had claimed the trees in the residential area as their playground. At 9am on Tuesday, the monkeys unleashed terror near Kalash-3 and Saiwala Complex. The primates attacked and bit a watchman at one of the residential societies. Sharing his harrowing ordeal, Rohitsingh Thakur said, "For the past few days, large groups of monkeys have been terrorizing the people here. Today, they went on a rampage again, and one bit my waist. Somehow, I managed to scare them away, but they swiftly moved on to a nearby complex, where they continued their rampage, injuring more innocent victims."
According to sources, the monkeys then targeted an older man and a teenager visiting a clinic in a commercial complex. The primates slapped the two before scampering away to another area.
