Bar Council of UP suspends licence of advocate for professional misconduct
Kanpur: Bar Council of UP in its recent order suspended the licence of Preet Pal Singh advocate for three years under section 35 of the Advocates Act for professional misconduct.
The disciplinary committee of the Bar Council in its order observed that during the suspension period Preet Pal Singh advocate cannot practise in any court of the country.
If he appears or produces his ‘vakalatnama’ in any case, an FIR will be lodged against him and he will be punished under criminal matter.
Abhishek Verma claimed in his complaint that Preet Pal Singh was his counsel in the cases which he had filed against his wife Rashmi Verma.
In one case, the complainant had paid him Rs 40,000 against the demand of Rs one lakh. A dispute had taken place when he demanded to return his money. Later, Preet Pal Singh appeared as an advocate of Rashmi Verma and initiated proceedings against him under the Domestic Violence Act, the complainant alleged. Advocate Preet Pal Singh did not file any document in his defence, the disciplinary committee observed in its order.
On the other hand, the complainant submitted certified copies/documents and orders stating that Preet Pal was contesting the cases on behalf of Rashmi Verma.
The disciplinary committee, after going through the evidence on record, observed that since Preet Pal Singh had committed misconduct it has suspended his licence for three years.
Though the order was passed on October 15, 2022, it was communicated to the complainant by post on June 5 this year.
