No scope to cut taxes without pain elsewhere, Fiscal Council warns

Report comes following a Fine Gael call to put income tax relief for middle earners at the heart of the budget

The Government will have to increase other taxes, cut spending or freeze welfare and pension rates if it wants to fund full income tax indexation, the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council has warned.
