NIRF ranking: Performance of govt-aided institutes falls
Ranchi: Several government-aided institutes in Jharkhand have figured in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 list of top educational institutions even though their rankings have declined slightly compared to that last year.
According to the NIRF ranking published on Monday, the centrally funded Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-ISM) Dhanbad is ranked 42 in the overall list. The position of the institute in NIRF 2022 list was 38.
In the research category, IIT-ISM Dhanbad is ranked 24th compared 20th position it attained in 2022. In engineering section, IIT Dhanbad is ranked 17th , which is three places lower than its position in 2022.
Another centrally funded institute, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, secured 24th rank in the management group while IIT-ISM Dhanbad is in 44th position. Last year, the IIM Ranchi was in 15th position. The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL) secured 24th rank compared to 22nd position it got in 2022.
IIT-ISM Dhanbad director professor Rajiv Shekhar said, “It was indeed disappointing that the position of our institution fell. Our fundamentals including research infrastructure, student’s facilities and innovation and incubation capabilities are very sound. We are hopeful of improving our performance next year.”
NUSRL VC professor Kesava Rao Vurrakula stated it is matter of satisfaction to come within the top 25, adding the organisation aims to be among the top 10 law institutes in the country.
