HYDERABAD: Two gangs of interstate drug peddlers were arrested and 380 kg ganja worth 1.1 crore was seized from their possession on Monday.
The special operations team (SOT) of Malkajgiri along with Choutuppal police intercepted two cars at Panthangi toll plaza in Choutuppal during the early hours of Monday and arrested four persons. Two more are on the run.
Police seized 160 kg ganja, two cars, and four mobile phones, from their possession. The accused were trying to peddle ganja from upper Sileru to Solapur in Maharastra.
One of the accused, Pul Singh (45), a farmer from Modhula Gudem in Jujur Thanda of Mahaboobabad district was previously involved in three NDPS cases. Along with the other accused, Singh hatched a plan to peddle ganja from the agency area near Sileru to
Maharashtra to make some quick profit. As per the plan, the accused went to Sileru in two cars and purchased 160 kilo ganja from a person identified as Balu, to sell it to Limbaji in Solapur, both of whom are absconding.
The second gang was intercepted by the SOT Malkajgiri along with Yacharam police at Gungal crossroads in Yacharam on Monday morning while they were transporting 220 kg ganja from upper Sileru to Hyderabad and Buldana city of Maharashtra in two cars. Police arrested five persons are seized two cars and five mobile phones from their possession.
