FDA bans 14 drug Fixed Dose Combination

PANAJI: The Directorate of Food and Drugs (FDA) has prohibited manufacture, sale, and distribution of 14 drug Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) on recommendation of the Expert Committee and Drugs Technical Advisory Board.
Drug retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, government and private hospitals, medical practitioners and nursing homes have been asked to take note of the ban. Doctors are not to prescribe the banned drug.
If any retailer, wholesaler, hospital, dispensary has a stock of banned drug, he or she will have to return it to their supplier and inform FDA about it.
A violation of the directive, a FDA official said, will attract penal action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
