Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Andrew Abbott

As Cincinnati Reds left-handed pitching prospect Andrew Abbott prepared to make his Major League Baseball debut in Monday's series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers at Great American Ball Park, there was plenty of excitement on social media surrounding his first big-league start.

Abbott didn't disappoint, allowing just one hit in six shutout innings while striking out six and walking four.

Abbott was a second-round pick of the Reds out of the University of Virginia in the 2021 MLB Draft. In 10 minor-league starts this season between Triple-A Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga, he's posted a 2.50 ERA with 90 strikeouts in 54 innings.
