Couple, son die by suicide in Tamil Nadu

NAMAKKAL: A couple and their son died by suicide at Nadupalayam in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday as they were facing financial difficulties.
The deceased have been identified as K Natesan, 65, of Nadupalayam, his wife Sindhamani, 52, and their son Nandha Kumar, 36. The couple had three children -- two sons and a daughter. One son and the daughter died of ailments earlier.
Neighbours alerted the Elachipalayam police as the main door of Natesan’s house remained closed even at 9am on Tuesday. The police broke open the door and found the trio hanging from the ceiling.
They bodies were sent to the government hospital in Tiruchengode for postmortem.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Natesan, who was a carpenter, could not go for work due to health issues. Nandha Kumar too did not have any job.
"They borrowed money from several people," said an officer at the Elachipalayam police station. People from whom they had borrowed money started asking them to repay as early as possible. "They may have taken this extreme decision after they failed to repay the money," the officer said.
A case was registered.
