Take down defamatory posts on Covishield: Bombay high court
MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Monday, in interim relief to Serum Institute of India (SII) and its CEO Adar Poonawalla, directed two persons to remove “prima facie defamatory posts” about side-effects of their Covid-19 Covishield vaccine from social media.
The institute and Poonawalla had filed a Rs100 crore defamation suit against Yohan Tengra and his channel Anarchy for Freedom India, Ambar Koiri, TV10 LIVE and John Doe citing six alleged statements on websites and social media handles and claimed the content was “per se defamatory”.
The HC passed an order restraining the four defendants and also a John Doe order (to) from making or reproducing and circulating defamatory statements and content “in any medium, or the Internet in any manner whatsoever’’.
