BENGALURU: British airline Virgin Atlantic will connect Bengaluru to London with daily direct flights from March 31, 2024, and ticket sales are set to commence from June 14.
The daily flights from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to London Heathrow will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft and will feature 31 first class, 35 business class, and 192 economy seats.
Sources said Virgin Atlantic, which already has daily operations to London from Mumbai and Delhi since 2019, plans to introduce flights from Bengaluru with the Covid-19 situation easing and international travel returning to pre-pandemic levels. This will be the airline's fourth service to India.
Juha Jarvinen, chief commercial officer of Virgin Atlantic, said: "We're happy to expand our offering in India as it is a destination our people and customers love to fly to. Known as India's Silicon Valley, the rapidly growing city of Bengaluru represents an incredibly exciting opportunity for us as we continue to expand our India offering, with increased connectivity for customers not only between the city and the UK but to key tech hubs in the US, including Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles."
