Mother-son found dead inside flat in Vikhroli, police suspect suicide
The mother allegedly suffered from epilepsy while the son was undergoing psychic treatment
MUMBAI: A 54-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son were found dead at their flat in Kannamwar Marg in Vikhroli on Sunday. Though it is prima facie suspected to be a case of suicide, police have sent the victims' partially decomposed bodies to the Rajawadi hospital for post-mortem.
The deceased have been identified as Uma Sanjay Tawde and her son Abhishek Sanjay Tawde who lived on the second floor flat of Gulmohar society. Police said Uma worked as a compounder for a private doctor while her son Abhishek was looking for a job and was reportedly undergoing psychic treatment. The deaths came to light after Sanjay Tawde (60), who stays with his relatives in Parel, came to see his wife and son on Sunday, said police. "When there was no response to his mobile phone and to the door bell, he got suspicious and called up the police control room. Police team reached the flat and tried to call, but when there was no response. They later broke open the main door and found Uma lying dead in the hall room and Abhishek hanging in the bedroom," said an officer. Police carried out a search at their houses, but no suicide note was found.
Sanjay told police Uma was undergoing treatment for epilepsy and often had fits while his son was undergoing psychic treatment. Vikhroli police senior inspector Subhada Chavan said they have filed an accidental death report. Sanjay also ruled out any foul play.
