AHMEDABAD: The ministry of education on Monday released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023, which ranks educational institutions based on various criteria. It was a good year for Gujarat-based institutions as many improved their ranks from 2022.
However, only three institutes managed to get Top 10 rankings in their categories. IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A) kept its No. 1 position in the management category, while
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) improved its ranking from eighth last year to seventh this year. CEPT University in architecture category was at the seventh rank. There were no new entrants from the state.
IIT Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) jumped 13 positions in the overall category from 37th to 24th rank. In the research category, the institute is up by three spots from 34 to 31, and in engineering it is up from 23 to 18.
Prof Rajat Moona, director of IIT-Gn, said the institute is focused on imparting world-class education in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), and engaging in impactful interdisciplinary research to contribute to India's growth story. "We are ready to scale new heights in the next phase of the institute's development," he said.
"We will continue striving to provide students with the best opportunities for academic growth, nurturing their talents, and preparing them to excel. We look forward to building on this success and enhancing our position as a leading law university in India," said Prof S Santhakumar, director of GNLU.
Prof Bharat Bhasker, director of IIM-A, said the ranking is recognition of IIMA's world-class education, cutting-edge research conducted by faculty members that has a significant influence on business and public policy, along with the efforts of students.
