The 28-year-old’s contract runs out next summer but he is set to have the one-year extension in his current deal triggered by the club, according to The Sun.
Lindelof started the last 12 games of the season, keeping Harry Maguire out of the line-up as he replaced the injured Lisandro Martinez.
Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks with Manchester United about signing Dean Henderson permanently.

Danish international Hojlund is valued at £40m by Atalanta after being compared to Erling Haaland because of his eye for goal and aerial ability.
The 20-year-old scored nine Serie A goals in his first season after signing from the Italian club from Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Man United‘s pursuit of a striker continues to ramp up with the season barely over for them.
And ideally manager Erik ten Hag wants to sign two new front-men this summer.
Meanwhile, talkSPORT understands that Real Madrid are set to test Tottenham’s resolve for Harry Kane.
Man United now have competition from the Spanish giants for Kane who is linked with a move away from Spurs this summer.
Andy Townsend has urged Tottenham to allow Manchester United target Harry Kane to leave the club this summer.
The Red Devils have identified the England captain as their top target, but talkSPORT understands Real Madrid are set to make an offer as they look to replace Karim Benzema.
And Townsend has told talkSPORT Tottenham should grant Kane his move and try to rebuild.
He said: “I would let Harry Kane go.
“I would take the money and use it.
“Now is the time to let him go.”
Sky Sports Germany are reporting that Manchester United are monitoring Leon Goretzka’s situation at Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champions are determined to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice this summer, with Thomas Tuchel a big fan.
And that would open the door for Goretzka to leave and possibly move to the Premier League and United are monitoring the situation to see if they can bring the German international to Old Trafford.
After the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Casemiro has penned an Instagram post to Manchester United fans.
The Brazilian midfielder is already a fans’ favourite at Old Trafford and helped the club win the Carabao Cup; however, he isn’t satisfied with that and wants more trophies next year.
He said: “Thank you all for this great season, and above all, for your love towards my family.
“I feel at home. I hear everyone say Manchester United is back, but this is only the beginning of our journey.
“The greatness of this club must force us to demand more of ourselves.
“Here, defeat is not acceptable, and the glory days must return.
“Come on, United!”
Manchester United’s efforts to sign Tottenham star Harry Kane could face a blow.
The Daily Mail report that Erik ten Hag’s side have been told that the 29-year-old is not for sale.
United believe they could reach a deal for Kane worth around £100million, but are also looking at other targets.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos are two alternative names for the club this summer.
David De Gea’s future as Manchester United’s number one is up in the air, with talks over a new deal rumbling on.
However, talkSPORT’s Andy Goldstein believes there are other areas of priority for United in this transfer window.
He thinks the Spaniard could be better at passing out from the back but the lack of a genuine goalscorer is more problematic than De Gea.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I am held up as a massive David de Gea fan, which I am. I love David de Gea, I think he is a legend of the club.
“He has won the Golden Glove, he is a fantastic shot-stopper.
“However, I do agree he is not a distribution goalkeeper that can play out from the back.
“And if Ten Hag decides he wants to do something about that, he is going to have to spend £50/60m.
“Now for me, if I give you £250m again to spend this summer, are you going to get two strikers, a midfielder and maybe a centre-back and a younger goalkeeper to work alongside De Gea.
“Or do you sacrifice getting a striker in and getting a brand-new goalkeeper in.
“Because I think next season, we can get by with De Gea but we desperately need to be scoring more goals.”
Manchester United are set to expand their search for a new striker this summer, with a move for Harry Kane proving to be difficult.
talkSPORT understands Real Madrid are set to lodge an offer for the England captain as they look to replace Karim Benzema after the Frenchman’s departure from the Bernabeu was confirmed.
And the Daily Mail claim Erik ten Hag is prepared to cast the net far and wide in an effort to recruit a top striker.
Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos have emerged as top contenders, while Brighton’s Evan Ferguson is also being monitored.
Meanwhile, United are unlikely to be able to pull off a move for Declan Rice this summer because it would stretch their finances too much.
talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has demanded that the Glazers finally sell Manchester United after the 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley.
Avram Glazer sat next to Sir Alex Ferguson and watched on as United were narrowly beaten by their inner-city rivals as the Citizens moved one game away from completing the treble.
And Crook ripped into the current owners, with the takeover process no closer to being concluded, and with the transfer window looming.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “You look at the options off the bench, and this is why it’s the Glazers’ fault; Wout Weghorst hasn’t scored a single goal in the Premier League.
“At the other end of the spectrum, albeit it a very talented one, a teenager in Alejandro Garnacho, and that was it.
“The squad is not really deep enough to finish above Liverpool or Chelsea.
“He [Erik ten Hag] needs backing this summer.
“Avram Glazer smiling away in the box will sicken a lot of Manchester United fans because the reason United have fallen so far behind City is because of the chronic lack of investment.
“Ten Hag is the right manager, but he needs the right ownership, so Avram Glazer does the honourable thing and sell the football club.”
Kim Min-jae is one of Manchester United’s top transfer targets this summer and he has a release clause that activates on July 1 until July 15.
The clause is believed to be £43million, and reports in Italy, via The Sun, claim insiders within Napoli are resigned to losing Kim to Man United.
The Red Devils have already offered the South Korean centre-back a contract worth £7.8m a year and they are hoping to act quickly before Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain get involved.
Moves for Mason Mount and Harry Kane are also expected to ramp up in the coming weeks, with the Red Devils ready to lodge a £50m bid for Mount.
According to a report from The Times, Alexis Mac Allister rejected interest from Manchester United to join Liverpool.
talkSPORT understands that a deal between the Reds and Brighton is advancing, with personal terms also close to being agreed as Jurgen Klopp looks to revatilise his midfield.
However, it appears United were keen on the World Cup winner but found out very early on that Mac Allister only had eyes for Liverpool.
Mason Mount was also a Liverpool target, but they have been put off by Chelsea’s demands, leaving Man United in pole position to sign the England international.
Manchester United are open to offers for multiple first-team players this summer.
According to ESPN, Man United are set to welcome bids Fred, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson, Anthony Elanga, Eric Bailly and Alex Telles.
talkSPORT understands that Fulham are interested in signing Fred in the transfer window after manager Marco Silva was seen chatting to the Brazilian.
Meanwhile, Maguire has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag told his captain to make a decision on his future.
With Ten Hag looking to add some big names to his squad this summer, he first has to trim down his squad and these players likely to make an exit if appropriate offers are received.
talkSPORT’s Ally McCoist have revealed why he’d choose to join Arsenal instead of Manchester United, if he was Declan Rice.
Rice has been linked to both Premier League giants this summer as he looks set to leave West Ham.
talkSPORT understands Arsenal are be leading the race for the England international but Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested while Bayern Munich admire the midfielder.
Manchester United target Randal Kolo Muani has revealed he dreams of playing in the Premier League.
Kolo Muani has been linked to a move to Old Trafford this summer, with an over £100m price tag being slapped on the Frankfurt striker.
PSG are also interested, however, the France international has indicated that he wants to play in England.
Speaking to Canal Football Club, he said: “It’s not just because you come from the Parisian region and grow up there that you should automatically play for PSG.
“Honestly, who doesn’t dream of playing in the Premier League? It’s one of the best leagues that exists. You dream about it. These are childhood dreams.
“But I’m not searching for the perfect club or the best club in the world. I’m really looking for the club that will give me the chance to be able to express myself, to earn gametime and most importantly allow me to grow.”
Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has given his thoughts on the possible signings of Harry Kane and Mason Mount.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Yorke said: “Harry Kane, there’s no introduction there, that’s the deal. If you want to get closer to City, with his goals and experience, what he brings – a guaranteed 25 goals a season.
“They will definitely get closer to City, that would be the smart move to ring him in, and that’s a deal that they really shouldn’t hesitate, they should make it happen.
“Mason Mount, I like him, I think the London thing he might need a change at that club [Chelsea], I think Manchester United can probably bring the best out of him.
“We have a lot of those type of players who are there, but I like the fact that he is English, he’s got a nice combination of how he plays and is intelligent.
“I think he could be an interesting buy for us going forward. If we got them, I think we will be one step closer to City.”
Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has broken his silence on a possible move to Manchester United.
Man United are set to target a goalkeeper this summer with David De Gea’s future at Old Trafford up in the air.
De Gea’s contract runs out in July and even if he signs a new deal, manager Erik ten Hag refused to confirm whether the Spaniard will keep his No.1 position next season.
So rumours have now began to swirl around a possible replacement and Costa is a reported target.
The Red Devils have been linked to the Portgual international for some time but he has now hinted at loyalty to Porto as he addressed the transfer rumours.
He said: “That’s the internet. It is a happiness and an honour to play for my favourite club. What they say is what they say, there is nothing concrete, I have a contract until 2027 and I hope to continue, let’s see.”
Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Harry Kane.
talkSPORT understands that Man United will now have to compete with Real Madrid are ready to test Tottenham’s resolve to keep Kane.
The Spanish giants will be on the lookout for a striker after star man Karim Benzema announced that he will be leaving the club this summer.
And Carlo Ancelotti has made Kane his top target to replace Saudi Arabia-bound Benzema.
However, hopes are not completely over as the England captain’s preferred option is to stay in England and break Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record.
Marcus Rashford is close to signing a new contract at Manchester United.
After experiencing the best campaign of his career by netting 30 goals in all competitions, Rashford plans to stay at his boyhood club, according to The Sun.
The forward has previously stalled over a possible new contract but he is now moving closer to securing a huge new deal.
He is reported to be signing ‘the biggest deal of his career’ after waiting to make sure the Red Devils secured Champions League football before agreeing to extend his stay.
