Entrepreneurship students to get scholarship from govt
Jaipur: Students from Rajasthan studying in around 60 institutes offering Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) will be given scholarships by the department of science and technology (DST) of the state government. Scholarships will be given to support local talent and ensure that deserving students from the region receive opportunities to further their education and entrepreneurial aspirations.
The EDP programme offers two types of courses, one for eight weeks and another a four-week course. Some of the colleges where EDP program is available are Rajasthan Technical University and Engineering College in Kota, Centre for Entrepreneurship & Management & Development Centre MDS University, Ajmer MLV Textile Institute, Bhilwara, and College of Technology & Agriculture Engineering among other institutes.
“One of the schemes under the EDP includes the Acknowledgement Through Research in Young Aspirants (ATRIYA) programme, which focuses on providing fellowships to students. The ATRIYA scheme includes life sciences, physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Experts from institutions such as the University of Rajasthan (RU) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) collaborate to evaluate write-ups submitted by students and select candidates for the fellowship,” said Arvind Samariya, assistant director at DST.
Officials said that B.Sc first and second-year students, as well as M.Sc first and second-year students, are eligible to participate. Selected students get opportunity to attend workshops/courses in institutes like IIT, where they will receive guidance.
The organisation of these camps and workshops is a collaborative effort between colleges and the government. The government provides funds to approved colleges to conduct EDP programs on their premises. These institutions are briefed about the program's objectives and guidelines to ensure effective implementation.
“In 2022, the EDP programme organised four to five events and camps, making a substantial impact on aspiring entrepreneurs. One such awareness camp attracted a significant number of participants, with approximately 400 to 500 students benefiting from the programme’s insights and resources,” added Samariya.
