Youth refuses to give bike, assaulted
Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvallam police on Sunday registered a case against two men for attempting to murder a 29-year-old youth who refused to give them his two-wheeler for buying cigarettes at Punchakkari on Saturday night.
Police registered a case against Thiruvallam natives Manu and Ratheesh under sections of IPC 308 for attempt to murder, 341 for wrongful restraint, 427 for mischief causing damage, 323 for causing simple hurt, 324 for causing hurt using a weapon and 325 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt. The accused are absconding, police said.
They said the complainant, Shinas, 29, son of Chaithanya of Moonnattumukku, was on his way home with a friend on a two-wheeler when he was attacked by the two men in front of Punchakkari petrol pump on Saturday 8:30pm. The accused, who were under the influence of alcohol, stopped the complainant demanding to give them the bike so that they could go to a shop to buy cigarettes. As Shinas rejected their demand, they brutally assaulted him.
The accused kicked him and strangled him using a rope. Shinas who suffered injuries all over the body in the attack was later admitted to a hospital by police. “We are searching for the accused and their criminal background is also being examined,” police said.
