Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has given his thoughts on the possible signings of Harry Kane and Mason Mount.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Yorke said: “Harry Kane, there’s no introduction there, that’s the deal. If you want to get closer to City, with his goals and experience, what he brings – a guaranteed 25 goals a season.
“They will definitely get closer to City, that would be the smart move to ring him in, and that’s a deal that they really shouldn’t hesitate, they should make it happen.
“Mason Mount, I like him, I think the London thing he might need a change at that club [Chelsea], I think Manchester United can probably bring the best out of him.
“We have a lot of those type of players who are there, but I like the fact that he is English, he’s got a nice combination of how he plays and is intelligent.
“I think he could be an interesting buy for us going forward. If we got them, I think we will be one step closer to City.”
Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has broken his silence on a possible move to Manchester United.
Man United are set to target a goalkeeper this summer with David De Gea’s future at Old Trafford up in the air.
De Gea’s contract runs out in July and even if he signs a new deal, manager Erik ten Hag refused to confirm whether the Spaniard will keep his No.1 position next season.
So rumours have now began to swirl around a possible replacement and Costa is a reported target.
The Red Devils have been linked to the Portgual international for some time but he has now hinted at loyalty to Porto as he addressed the transfer rumours.
He said: “That’s the internet. It is a happiness and an honour to play for my favourite club. What they say is what they say, there is nothing concrete, I have a contract until 2027 and I hope to continue, let’s see.”
Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Harry Kane.
talkSPORT understands that Man United will now have to compete with Real Madrid are ready to test Tottenham’s resolve to keep Kane.
The Spanish giants will be on the lookout for a striker after star man Karim Benzema announced that he will be leaving the club this summer.
And Carlo Ancelotti has made Kane his top target to replace Saudi Arabia-bound Benzema.
However, hopes are not completely over as the England captain’s preferred option is to stay in England and break Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record.
Marcus Rashford is close to signing a new contract at Manchester United.
After experiencing the best campaign of his career by netting 30 goals in all competitions, Rashford plans to stay at his boyhood club, according to The Sun.
The forward has previously stalled over a possible new contract but he is now moving closer to securing a huge new deal.
He is reported to be signing ‘the biggest deal of his career’ after waiting to make sure the Red Devils secured Champions League football before agreeing to extend his stay.
Hello and welcome back to talkSPORT’s Manchester United transfer blog! Our top stories are…
Everton are interested in signing Manchester United loanee Wout Weghorst, talkSPORT understands.
Man United do not plan to buy Burnley striker Weghorst permanently after his loan spell at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Mason Mount has spoken for the first time since the Red Devils’ reportedly agreed personal terms with the midfielder.
Mount was questioned on the grid ahead of the race at F1’s Spanish Grand Prix yesterday, with Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle saying: “Mason, Chilwell said you are going to United!”
The 24-year-old laughed and replied: “I am just here to enjoy this race today! Amazing day, can’t wait to watch it now.”
And in other news, Harry Kane is now a target for Real Madrid after Karim Benzema confirmed that he will be leaving the Spanish side.
talkSPORT understands that Los Blancos are ready to test Tottenham’s resolve to keep their all-time top scorer, which is a blow for Man United who were also targeting the striker.
That’s all for today’s talkSPORT coverage of Manchester United news.
Return to the blog tomorrow for the latest updates on the Red Devils!
Manchester United man Fred admits he still doesn’t know where his future lies with the midfielder entering the final year of his contract.
“Of course I always want to be playing, to be helping my team and gladly today I started and I think we played well,” said Fred.
“(About my future) I still don’t know, I have to talk with my family, I still have one year left on my contract here. Now it’s holidays time and a good opportunity to rest. I’ll talk to my staff, to the club and see what’s everyone’s decision.”
He added: “I do have to talk with Ten Hag as well, he’s the manager and the conversation has to involve everyone. We have to see how next season will pan out.
“I want to be important, I want to help the team, so we’ll see. But I’ve always been and still am very happy at Manchester United.”
talkSPORT sources understand Manchester United have no intention of signing Wout Weghorst permanently after his half-season loan at Old Trafford ended.
The Dutchman failed to score in the Premier League for the Red Devils, and by the end of his loan, he was reduced to appearances off the bench.
Everton are eyeing a move for Weghorst who has struggled in the Premier League for Burnley and United.
We said Manchester United’s transfer business was expected to ramp up now the season is over and the club are lining up a double move for Mason Mount and Harry Kane.
The Daily Telegraph report the Red Devils see the England pair as their top targets and will submit a £50million bid for Mount.
talkSPORT understands the player and United have agreed personal terms, so attention switches to agreeing a fee.
Meanwhile, Kane is the man Erik ten Hag wants to lead his attack next year, but they believe Tottenham will be unwilling to sell Kane this summer.
Erik ten Hag was pleased with his first season as Manchester United boss but he is preparing his side to go one step further next year.
Speaking to the club’s website after the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City, he said: “I think it’s not Manchester City now [who are the ones to beat], there are seven, eight competitors in the Premier League.
“We have to analyse the season and what we have to do better, and then from July go again.
“[Our 2022/23 success] creates expectations, but we have to do better and we have to make progress during the summer.
“That means we have to demand much more from the players if we want to compete like we did today and to not only compete but also win.”
Manchester United are confident of agreeing a deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
They report the Blues want £70million to sell the Englishman, but United are hopeful of a cheaper price and are expected to accelerate talks now that the FA Cup final is over.
Mount is currently on holiday but has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.
Now the season is over, Manchester United’s transfer business could ramp up in the coming weeks as Erik ten Hag aims to get any new signings bedded in.
One name who has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford is Napoli’s outstanding centre-back Kim Min-jae.
Italian transfer guru Alfredo Pedulla reports Man United and Napoli have met and the club have held talks with the player’s agents.
He has a 60million Euro release clause [£51.7m] that is active from July 1 to July 15, so expect to see some movement soon if United are serious about recruiting Kim.
Mason Mount has reacted to rumours about him joining Manchester United this summer.
talkSPORT understands personal terms between the Chelsea ace and United have been agreed ahead of a major transfer.
The England midfielder and Reece James and Ben Chilwell are at the Spanish Grand Prix today.
And ahead of the race, he was asked by Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle about rumours he was set join Man United.
When told Chilwell had said he was moving to Old Trafford, he laughed and then said: “I am just here to enjoy the day, and I can’t wait to watch it [the Grand Prix].”
Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has posted for the first time since the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
The winger came off the bench and came close to grabbing an equaliser twice in the 2-1 loss, and now, he has spoken out.
Writing on Instagram, he said: “I am broken.
“People who know me know how obsessed I am with winning, and today it couldn’t be.
“Probably one of the hardest days of my life, we will get up again because we are Manchester United.
“As he said several times, God has taught me to never give up and I promise the fans that we will bring joy to you very soon.”
Tony Cascarino believes that Manchester United didn’t do enough to win the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
The Red Devils lost 2-1 at Wembley as their inner-city rivals moved a game closer to securing the treble.
And Cascarino feels it was a deserved win for the Citizens.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “City were clearly the better team.
“I felt Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Fred were dominated.
“There were some poor performances from Man United. David De Gea was at fault for the second goal.
“I felt sorry for Jadon Sancho.
“Eriksen struggled to make an impact, which then disabled the forwards.
“If it wasn’t for the penalty decision, it would have been a total mismatch.”
Roy Keane once again pleaded for Manchester United to sign a new goalkeeper this summer after the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
David De Gea was arguably at fault for the second goal as he managed to get fingertips onto Ilkay Gundogan’s shot but failed to tip it around the post.
And after the match, the United legend tore into De Gea.
Speaking to ITV, he said: “United have got to get a new goalkeeper and a world-class striker. I’m sick of saying it.
“United need a world-class goalkeeper, and he isn’t.”
Potentially some very bad news for Manchester United in their pursuit of Harry Kane, as Real Madrid have confirmed that iconic striker Karim Benzema will leave the club this summer.
And talkSPORT understands Los Blancos are readying a bid to sign the England captain.
Kane is United’s top target as they look to add an elite striker to Erik ten Hag’s side, but Real Madrid’s interest definitely complicates matters.
However, it’s unclear just how much the LaLiga giants are willing to spend on Kane or if Tottenham will be open to any offers, but this could be a big blow for United.
But despite Real’s interest, Kane’s preference is to remain in the Premier League to try and break Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record.
talkSPORT understands Mason Mount has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a summer move, with the clubs set to negotiate a fee in the coming days and weeks.
The Red Devils want to pay no more than £50million, while Chelsea are looking for £80m, so you would think they will be able to meet in the middle to get the deal done.
Mount is one of FIVE homegrown players set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, and Football Insider report the lure of playing Champions League football at Old Trafford is what has persuaded the Englishman to leave his boyhood club.
More now on the story emerging about Harry Kane and Real Madrid.
The Athletic report Carlo Ancelotti has made it very clear to the board that the Tottenham star is the man they need to create another Champions League-winning side.
This would be a huge blow to Manchester United as they have identified Kane as their top target this summer, with his contract expiring next year.
Talks over a new deal at Spurs aren’t going anywhere, and there have been suggestions Daniel Levy will cash in.
However, talkSPORT understands Tottenham believe they can keep their star man beyond the summer, but if they do decide to make some money, Levy and co would ideally prefer not to sell Kane to a Premier League rival, opening the door for Real Madrid.
Manchester United could hijack Barcelona’s move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Reports in Spain suggest the Red Devils have contacted the midfielder in an attempt to beat the LaLiga giants to Amrabat’s signature.
The Moroccan international was one of the stars of the World Cup as he helped his country reach the semi-final stage.
He was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in January, but he nearly joined Barca instead and was expected to finally complete the move this summer, but United want competition for Casemiro and Amrabat has many of the same qualities.
Despite defeat in the FA Cup final to Manchester City, Erik ten Hag was proud of Manchester United’s performance and believes they are the only team in the world that could respond to City scoring first.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, he said: “I think we were very competitive.
“We didn’t allow them anything from open play. We fought back after an early goal.
“I think we are the only team in the world capable of fighting back against this team.
“So I was happy with the performance.”
Hello, and welcome back to talkSPORT.com’s live Manchester United transfer news blog.
Let’s start by looking at Saturday’s biggest stories.
United were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley to end their 2022/23 season in disappointing style, but Erik ten Hag’s side were well in the game, and the only thing that separated the two teams was two Ilkay Gundogan strikes from outside of the box.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have also lodged a formal approach to Chelsea over Mason Mount.
talkSPORT understands the club have agreed personal terms with the Englishman and United are now edging towards completing that deal.
Manchester United’s long-term target Jurrien Timber has been spotted arriving at Wembley to watch the FA Cup final.
The Red Devils face their local rivals Manchester City on Saturday afternoon as both sides hunt for their second trophy of the season.
But amongst the thousands of fans dressed in red and blue filtering into the home of football, an eagle eyed supporter spotted Ajax star Timber walking along Wembley Way too.
Last summer, now-Man United boss Erik ten Hag was the defender’s manager at Ajax.
But the Dutchman was unable to bring the 21-year-old with him to Old Trafford, despite Timber claiming he was expecting to leave the Eredivisie club this time last year.
Now though, Ajax are open to offers for their defender, as per The Mirror, meaning Man United are in a position to go for the star once again.

Simon Jordan labelled Antony ‘£90million worth of crap’ as he laid into Erik ten Hag’s complaints over Manchester United’s transfer spending.
Ten Hag was backed in the summer transfer window with around £220m worth of signings with the Brazilian starfrom Ajax one of the marquee additions and has praised the winger despite his poor form.
Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan was uncompromising in his view on those Ten Hag comments.
He told White and Jordan: “Okay, Ten Hag. You should have spent £170m in August and £50m in January. Would that have suited you better?
“No, you decided to fire your bolt early and spend £220m in the August window.
“What have you done with that? One of the huge parts of it was Antony. He’s £90m worth of crap!
“He’s spent £220m. What he said was the £220m, thank you I’ll have that, but what have you done for me lately?”
David de Gea’s Manchester United future remains uncertain after boss Erik ten Hag refused to confirm whether he will be the club’s No.1 next season.
The 32-year-old is set to become a free agent when his contract expires this summer, though the Red Devils have the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.
Asked by The Times whether De Gea will be at the club next campaign, he said: “Yes, but I will not say he’ll always be my No1.
“Because in a club like Man United there must be competition in all positions.
“You can’t do it with 11 players. It is impossible. You need double positions.”
