Man booked for stalking ‘friend’

Ludhiana: After a woman stopped talking to a man who she befriended on Instagram, the accused created her fake account and uploaded her morphed pictures and videos on it.
Division number 7 police lodged an FIR against Murali Rey of Palghar of Maharashtra in the case. In his police complaint, the woman’s father said that the accused came in contact with his daughter on Facebook in August 2022. He said that they became friends and also exchanged mobile numbers, after which they were in regular touch for a few months. Later, he said, the accused started harassing her and she stopped talking to him. Then, he said that the accused threatened her to make her stay in touch with him. When she refused, he created her fake account on Instagram and started posting her morphed pictures and videos on it. The victim filed a complaint on February 13 and after an inquiry, police lodged an FIR. The accused is yet to be arrested.
