Ranchi: Fugitive army havildar Ajay Horo was arrested from Prayagraj railway station in
Uttar Pradesh with the help of local police on Friday in connection with the murder of his live-in partner Sapna Yogi under the Lapung police station area on October 9, 2022, police said.
Superintendent of police (Rural) Naushad Alam on Sunday said Ajay had developed closeness with Sapna, a resident of Jalpaigidi, while serving in Kalimpong in 2015. Ajay was transferred to Allahabad, but he started living with Sapna there, he added.
“When Ajay was coming to his native Kurkuria villagein Lapung on leave, Sapna insisted and came along with him. After reaching his village, Ajay asked Sapna to wait till dark and both went to the local Sarna sthal. Meanwhile, both had an argument and Ajay pushed Sapna into a well and hit her with stones,” SP Alam stated.
Ajay rejoined duty on October 23, 2022, but fled on April 14 for fear of being arrested.
It may be stated here that Sapna’s relative lodged a missing person case with Prayagraj police in this connection on April 17. The Lapung police had also registered an FIR after recovery of Sapna’s body on October 10, 2022.
